Tourist information officers work to provide visitors with information and services to promote and facilitate tourism in a region. They may have an education in tourism and service, or have gained experience through work in the industry. Their knowledge of local attractions, events, and lodging is extensive.Responsibilities
Tourist information officers give recommendations about attractions, restaurants, and activities. They assist with bookings, inform about local traditions, and provide directions. Keeping up to date with events and providing brochures and maps are also part of their responsibilities.Skills and tools
Tourist information officers must have good communication skills, both orally and in writing, in Swedish and often in several other languages. They often use digital tools such as booking systems and information databases. A service orientation and the ability to handle various customer needs are central qualities.
