Machine travel fitters work with the installation, repair, and maintenance of machinery and mechanical equipment at various locations. They often travel to the customer's facility to perform their work and can be employed within a range of different industrial sectors. The educational path can vary, but often a vocational education in industrial technology or equivalent experience is required.Responsibilities
Machine travel fitters are responsible for assembling and installing machinery and equipment on-site at the customer's location. They also perform service, maintenance, and repairs of existing systems. Their work requires them to be able to read and understand technical drawings and schematics.Skills and tools
Machine travel fitters need good knowledge in mechanics and hydraulics as well as the ability to use various hand tools and machines. They must be able to work independently and in teams, and have good problem-solving skills. Knowledge in welding and electrical engineering is often an advantage. Common competencies demanded by employers are hydraulik, reglerteknik and mekanik.
