Support educators work with providing support and assistance to individuals with various types of disabilities. They can be employed within the education system, social services, or in special living arrangements. They work on developing individual plans, conducting educational activities, and collaborating with other professional groups. Observing and documenting the clients' development is an important part of their work.Skills and tools
Support educators need good knowledge in pedagogy, psychology, and how different disabilities affect the individual. They use aids and adapted materials to facilitate learning and communication. Empathy, patience, and the ability to motivate others are central qualities in the profession. Common competencies demanded by employers are social dokumentation, alternativ och kompletterande kommunikation/akk and omvårdnad.
