About the role
Tilers are craftsmen specialized in laying tiles, ceramic tiles, and mosaics in wet areas, kitchens, and other environments. They often undergo vocational training in construction and civil engineering, and may also have a journeyman's certificate or master's certificate. Tilers work both in new production and with renovations of existing surfaces.Responsibilities
Tilers prepare the substrate, perform careful measurement, and cut tiles to size. They are responsible for ensuring that tiles and ceramic tiles are mounted correctly and aesthetically pleasing. Waterproofing and grouting are also important parts of their job to ensure durable results.Skills and tools
Tilers master techniques for cutting, laying, and grouting tiles as well as handling tools such as tile cutters, wet saws, and grout floats. They must have an eye for detail, good physical ability, and knowledge of material science. Skills in blueprint reading and measurement techniques are also essential.
