About the role
Midwives are specialized in maternity care, women's reproductive health, and the care of newborn babies. They have completed a college education in midwifery and are licensed by the National Board of Health and Welfare. Midwives must have a good knowledge of obstetrics, gynecology, and neonatal care. They use medical equipment to monitor the fetus and the childbirth process. Communication skills, empathy, and the ability to handle stressful situations are important qualities.
