Parish assistants support the daily work within a church congregation. They may have a church education or other relevant background in social work or administration. Their role is to assist priests and other congregation employees in various tasks.Responsibilities
Parish assistants are responsible for administrative tasks, help with planning and implementation of congregation activities. They may also be involved in diaconal work and provide support to congregation members. Facilitating communication between the congregation and its members is an important part of the job.Skills and tools
Parish assistants need good organizational skills and the ability to handle administrative tools. They should have good social skills to be able to interact well with congregation members. Knowledge in database management and basic IT tools is often necessary. Common competencies demanded by employers are ungdomsverksamhet, församlingsarbete and efs (evangeliska fosterlandsstiftelsen).
