About the role
Habilitation educators work to support individuals with various disabilities to promote their development and participation in society. They often have an educational background in pedagogy or behavioral science and may also have specialized in areas such as neuropsychiatry or motor skills. Their work is interdisciplinary and often takes place in teams with other professional groups within habilitation.Responsibilities
Habilitation educators are responsible for designing and implementing individually tailored educational and training programs. They collaborate with clients and their relatives to set goals and follow up on progress. They also work on informing and educating about disabilities and their consequences for the individual and society.Skills and tools
Habilitation educators need good knowledge in pedagogy, psychology, and about disabilities. They use educational methods and aids adapted to the needs of their clients. Communication skills, empathy, and patience are central qualities in the profession. Common competencies demanded by employers are alternativ och kompletterande kommunikation/akk, motiverande samtal and habilitering.
