Work at Extrapreneur

IT consultant Frida, CEO Peter and office dog Charlie talk about what it's like to work at Extrapreneur!

Sustainability

Active environmental choices
At Extrapreneur, both in Gothenburg and Malmö, they encourage collective travel, both by public transportation and carpooling if heading in the same direction. They have also purchased some electric cars with the aim of allowing employees to test drive and be inspired to purchase one of their own. In addition to this, train travel is prioritized as a means of transportation for longer journeys, to the extent possible, and they do their best to properly recycle all materials from the offices.
Diversity
At Extrapreneur, they strive to have the best possible mix of people, in terms of gender, origins, and cultures. Currently, they have a gender balance of about 50/50 for both women and men in both Gothenburg and Malmö. They also have a wide age range, with the youngest being 23 and the oldest being 63. This range provides the company with a variety of different experiences, and it also allows everyone who enters the company to feel represented. At Extrapreneur, it is essential to have space for all personality types as the business model is based on the individual, and they aim to create a workplace where everyone fits in, regardless of how they are. Extrapreneur is also a proud employer of several dedicated individuals who are involved in both Pink Programming and Girls Who Code. Both organizations work actively to increase the number of girls, transgender individuals, and non-binary people who work with programming to promote diversity in the industry.
Benefits to society
Think Contribution is in Extrapreneur's DNA, and as a result, they work extensively to develop individuals who are curious and can contribute to new initiatives, both internally and externally. One innovative and successful project that Extrapreneur has created is "Extrabron," their own development program. After identifying that companies, customers, and regions really need competence but have difficulty finding it, despite schools producing good newly graduated individuals, they started a project aimed at bridging the gap between school and work and solving the skills shortage in the industry. They do this by recruiting newly graduated individuals from vocational colleges and universities and putting them into an internal trainee program for 6-9 months. There, they participate in real projects, gain experience, and acquire general work experience by learning work routines, office etiquette, and the like. In the program, individuals are trained specifically for certain companies and organizations with the goal of being able to deliver from day one at their intended employer when they are finished. Currently, Extrapreneur has nine individuals involved in the program. Externally, Extrapreneur tries to contribute to society in several different ways, including donating money to charity, involving themselves in organizations that benefit specific groups in society, such as the Small Business Association and Pink Programming, and of course, constantly encouraging initiatives and giving driven initiative-taking individuals new opportunities.

Personal development

Extrapreneur believes that their consultants are their most valuable asset, and therefore works hard to provide them with the best conditions to succeed and grow. From the start, they work with what they call the "competence journey," which is clearly defined and driven by the individual's personal interests and desires, and carried out through courses, internal training, certifications, and other methods. Development takes place on both an individual and team level, and there is always close dialogue about the competence journey and how it can be optimized. Onboarding for new hires is a natural part of Extrapreneur's processes and something they prioritize to ensure that the employee gets the best possible start with the company. The new hire always receives a warm welcome from colleagues and their team, a thorough briefing on the company's processes and practical aspects, and also receives a small welcome gift. During the first period, the new hire is also provided with extra support from their team lead, who acts as a mentor and sounding board as needed.
